Celebrate Father’s Day Week - Seaport Style

Your dad is no ordinary dad so why get him the same old boring gift that you gave him last year on Father's Day. This Father's Day you can celebrate your dad's unique personality and have fun at the same time with a harbor cruise or an excursion to Sheffield Island with the Norwalk Seaport Association. One of the perks of giving dad an experience gift is that long after the adventure is over, it will become part of his regular storytelling repertoire!

If your dad needs to unwind at the end of the day with a beer or glass of wine, the sunset cruise offered by the Norwalk Seaport Association is sure to put a smile on his face. This two-hour cruise plys its way through the scenic Outer Harbor of Norwalk passing three historic lighthouses and the magnificent necklace of islands that dot Long Island Sound. At this time of evening, Long Island Sound is a veritable wonderland of wildlife, so if dad is a bird lover, he will have the chance to see a variety of migratory birds and their breeding nests up close in their natural habitat. To make this sunset cruise even more special for dad, pack him a picnic cooler that will appease his culinary side - snacks and beverages can be brought onboard and enjoyed. The sunset cruises depart from the Seaport Dock on North Water Street at 6:30 p.m. Wednesday - Sunday. It is best to plan on arriving 30 minutes prior to the scheduled departure. Tickets are available online and should be purchased in advance. For tickets click here.

If your dad is a history buff and likes the idea of a cruise to a private island where he can explore a historic ten-room lighthouse, picnic on the beach, or on a waterside pavilion, and catch a glimpse of the skyline of Manhattan, then book the three-hour excursion that includes a stop on Sheffield Island. A visit to Sheffield Island is one of the best ways to welcome the summer and celebrate Father's Day all in one! There is nothing more exhilarating than getting out on the water and exploring local nature and historic buildings. If unwinding on a private island away from the crowd's appeals, then book the cruise for dad and celebrate Father's Day, Seaport style. To make it extra special, pack a picnic lunch with all of dad's favorite snacks to enjoy on the island. Cruises that stop at Sheffield Island in June run on Saturdays and Sundays at 11 a.m. and 3 p.m. For tickets for the Sheffield Island cruise click here.

On Father's Day, June 20, the Norwalk Seaport Association is also offering a very special birding safari cruise that departs at 8 a.m. and returns at 10:30 am. This birding safari will be led by Will Schneck, a passionate bird enthusiast that combines superb birding skills with an astonishing command of bird biology and habits leads these eco-styled cruises. This is the perfect opportunity for nature enthusiasts to spot seabirds up close in their natural habitat... the experience is exciting because you never know what will fly your way!
